B. Seasonal Moodiness

After a long discussion among sudent-friends concerning the change of moods that seems to rely on the change of seasons; the students in one of the universities located in Western New York, formulated a survey. Among about twenty students who participated, a few was initially skeptical, nevertheless, they agreed that their mood changes due to a reason they do not know. When the students were asked about their favorite seasons -- Fall and Spring seemed to be favored by many. Nick said, " I love Spring! The flowers start to sprout and the grass turns green. We start to see all kinds of beautiful birds. I feel so energetic!" The Fall lovers, including Alex, stated, "I like Fall. It is the beginning of the school year. Also, the weather is nice and cool, so all I have to wear is a light jacket during that season. I am not sure if my mood changes, but I think when the weather is temperate, I am in a better mood. I know this because my walks to classes are not as peaceful when the weather is really cold. I would be thinking too much of how cold the weather is or how far I have to walk to my destination. In contrast, when the weather is cool, I enjoy my walks more because I would not be thinking how much I have to walk or how far my destination is." Elizabeth, who dislikes mud, said, "...I don't like it when it's gloomy and muddy. As a result, I don't like Winter because when the snow melts it becomes so muddy and my mood changes to bad. I think I like Spring because I like lightning and thunder." These students wanted to base their survey on their experience rather than scientific method. Consequently, they did not want to base their ideas on what has been said by psychology or science experts. They believe that these changes [season and mood] in human person contribute to make a normal human being.
